Mark Gabriel was born and raised in Egypt in a fundamentalist Islamic family and had the entire Quran memorized by the age of 12. He graduated second in a class of 6,000 at Al-Azhar University in Cairo and then became a professor of Islamic history at that university. He also served as the Imam (spiritual leader) of a mosque in Giza, where the pyramids are located.
When Mark one day questioned the authenticity of the Quran, he was kidnaped, thrown in prison, and tortured. Miraculously released, Mark accepted Jesus. Fleeing for his life to the U.S., Mark today is a Christian evangelist spreading the truth about Islam.
